They watching you now

-Dustin Fletcher (2024)
This EP is a loud announcement to everybody that Spag Heddy does not care about your quarter notes and sustains or maelstrom patches and is doing exactly what he does best.
Spag Heddy has self-released his latest EP, The Big Boil on his own label and it is a walk down memory lane of many styles the master chef has cooked up over the years.
Not only do we get brostep on this EP, but we also get hybrid trap and electro house—all seasoned to perfection with earworm melodies and absolutely delicious growls, yois, sustain basses and glitch sounds.
The EP starts on a strong note with the past two singles released in the leadup to the project, Gameplay and Sonic Beef. These two tracks are the bread and butter of Spag Heddy’s career, brostep. They’re written masterfully and are fantastic examples of what good songwriting can accomplish for a record. Just make it cleanly mixed, write a catchy song and make sounds you enjoy.
The Sauce God echoed a similar sentiment about getting back to the basics and using old influences to create something entirely new for the EP.
"It's been a year since I released my debut album, so it is high time for a new body of work. With 'The Noodle Effect,' I showcased more of myself and brought a variety of styles to the table that I had not shown before. In the void that came after the release of it, I've taken time off to reflect on my music path and gone back to find inspiration in places where I would look in the early days of my career. Eptic, Skrillex, Knife Party, are some of the main musical influences for the spirit of 'The Big Boil' EP, as well as very old (unfinished) songs of myself. This EP feels like Spag Heddy 2.0, continuing where I left off but with a refined recipe."

Revenge of the Meatballs and R’amen are both excursions into trap music, so those of you that are not headbanging pastafarians can pull out the trap arms like it’s 2015 all over again.
Having an electro house record, Get Em is the parmesan on top, tying the whole collection of tracks together. It is a reminder of the roots of this whole scene, evoking shades of tracks like Vancouver Beatdown by Zomboy or The Devils Den by Skrillex and Wolfgang Gartner. Just imagine music inspired by those legendary records, but with modern production techniques and mixing and mastering and that sums up this EP.
What was once old is always new again. There’s nobody better than Spag Heddy to carry the torch for the legacy acts in the scene and the sound that inspired so many of us listeners to stick around for all this time.
He did the damn thing and yet again made that legacy of his Permanent.
