Izzy Vadim self releases new riddim anthem 'Contaminated Crops'
Wake up babe, Izzy just dropped another silly summer slapper.
It’s starting to get to that time of year where it’s time for all the really fun summer music to come out. Usually, right around now is when a lot of the songs you’ll hear on repeat during festival season come out.
Canadian riddim icon Izzy Vadim just self-released his latest anthem, Contaminated Crops and it surely will be yet another festival anthem for the veteran producer.
Izzy Vadim’s sound has evolved quite a bit over the years with the latest evolution being his venture into square 4 riddim. This particular tune was a clip he made for social media that garnered quite a bit of buzz, which is what led to him finishing and releasing the song—putting the veggies on while the cast iron is hot, if you will.
“So this initially started as a joke. I simply named it Infekted Vegetables because it sounded a bit like Infekt, and he’s a huge inspiration for me, Vadim said.” After an overwhelming response on social media, I knew I had to finish it. One thing led to another and now we’re here. Artwork was also made by me (I do all my own artworks and visuals). Eventually I renamed it to Contaminated Crops.”
This tune was quite an ear-worm and truly does show Vadim’s affinity for Infekt. Each drop is started with a fakeout and are equipped with snares punchier than (Cast) Iron Mike’s fists. The devil is in the details, and those details stood out to me. The risers thrown into the transitions between phrases in the second drop are an awesome touch and do a great job of rebuilding tension from phrase to phrase.
While riddim oftentimes lacks a huge variation in sound design, it’s things like that that keep a drop chugging along without it getting monotonous over a full 32 bars. Add on a bouncy sub, interesting tonal frequencies, and crystal clear bass hits, and you’ve got the recipe for some Contaminated Crops. It is out now on all platforms, don’t forget to wash your veggies.
